Tolkovsky's works draw inspiration from mystical and symbolic worlds, exploring the ways in which time leaves its traces on both material and consciousness.
Katrin Tolkovsky (b. 1991, Jerusalem) is a multidisciplinary artist based in Tel Aviv. She holds a BFA from the Screen Arts Department and an MFA from the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design.
Tolkovsky works primarily with the traditional sgraffito technique—layers of plaster and paint revealed through engraving—creating imagery that moves between personal memory and collective history, exposure and concealment, and construction and decay. Her works draw inspiration from mystical and symbolic worlds, exploring the ways in which time leaves its traces on both material and consciousness.
In 2025, she presented her solo exhibition "Sand & Grace" at Braverman Gallery. The exhibition featured a new body of work in the sgraffito technique, examining questions of memory, transformation, fragility, and the possibility of grace within a reality of uncertainty. Through acts of engraving, exposing, and concealing, the works engaged with the intersection of personal experience and broader social and historical contexts.
Tolkovsky has held solo exhibitions and participated in group shows in Tel Aviv, Stockholm, and Munich. Her work has been featured at the Fresh Paint Art Fair and is included in various private and public collections.
