Mai Daas

The figurative, emotionally resonant paintings of Mai Daas explore themes of womanhood, domestic space, memory, and collective identity.

Mai Daas (b. 1991, Tira) is a Palestinian visual artist whose figurative, emotionally resonant paintings explore themes of womanhood, domestic space, memory, and collective identity. Working primarily in oil, her work captures intimate, symbolic moments between women—rendered in quiet gestures that reflect both tenderness and resistance.

Daas earned her Bachelor of Education in Fine Arts (B.Ed.F.A) from Beit Berl College’s Hamidrasha School of Art (2012–2015), and later pursued psychology studies in 2017, focusing on psychopathology and personal theories. Her academic background informs a deep engagement with emotional and psychological nuance in her work.

She has presented solo exhibitions at leading venues, including Present at the Artists House, Tel Aviv (2024); Gravity at Al-Markaz Art Gallery, Jerusalem (2022); In Between at Umm El-Fahem Art Gallery (2021) and Sapir College, Negev (2021); A Woman in Gray at Rosenfeld Gallery, Tel Aviv (2016); and her debut exhibition Shadow of a Woman in Tira (2014), which she self-curated shortly after completing her studies.

Daas has also participated in numerous group exhibitions in Israel and internationally, such as Horizontal Perspectives in Tivot art gallery (2025); When Things Fall Apart, Wilfrid museum (2025);Roma Arte in Nuvola in Rome (2022), Ecmnesia at Cosmo, Rome (2022), Hybrid Arte in Madrid (2019), Flower Power in Berlin and Norderstedt, Germany (2018), and Mountains Beyond Metaphors at Chelsea Gallery, London (2016).

She has also shown at major local venues including the Haifa Museum of Art (Big Brother: Exposure, Sucking and Camera, 2017), Benjamin Gallery (Cradle, 2017), and Jaffa Art Gallery (2017).

Her work has been recognized with the Mifal Hapais Prize for a solo exhibition (2020), and is included in both private and public collections, most notably the Knesset Collection.
